Starting to dream
Hey...
Ummmm, I'm pretty bemused at being presented with a blank page when I feel I have so much to say!
I think that I feel the same, in reverse, about photography. I feel, I take far too many photos, make far too many things for anything to be really seen. Perhaps I need to return to the blank page.
I have a fascination for the recording of events, people, places, seasons, experiences and so on. I began researching photographs, arts, documents and more around 15 years ago for a production I was working on (more of that later), and it flared inside me that each person whose diary I read, each photograph of a person I saw, the thought flared inside me, they had lived, these people, they had been born and were very, very real.
I could not stop thinking about the stories of these people and events and places and objects and therein I made my living reassembling life stories, making history come alive, making history even, on occasion. All of this from a scrawl on a page or a tattered face in a book, all silver blue and hue'd with the most enthralling tones. (I often wonder if that enamoured me to the images rather than the content of it). I began to dream their stories.
And that is the beginning for me. Thank you for reading...
